Ko Tao

After a few days in Bangkok we took the night train down the coast, got an early morning ferry and found ourselves shepherded to a dive resort on Ko Tao island. Life is good here, although we have found out that it's still monsoon season, as evidenced by no less than 3 episodes of heavy rainfall today. It's a small island with some narrow beaches and steep hills topped by granite boulders. We have been here 3 days now, focusing on eating and swimming. Yesterday I woke up at 5 am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I went for a run and ended up running and walking along very steep paths through the jungle, trying to make it to the East coast for sunrise. I ended up at an abandoned construction site on the northern coast, oops and cool. Today Morgan, Alex, a swiss woman we met here and I tried to go to a beach on the east coast, but it started raining very hard. Luckily we were right next to a house and the owners let us wait out the rain on their porch. I wanted to continue on, but the rest of the group was less interested in getting soaked and hiking through the woods. I went up to the to the highest point and the rest of the team waited for a short break in the weather to head back to our room. Tomorrow I will get to the East coast, rain or heavy rain. More to come soon.
lots of love, Rowan
